Week 1

Saturday January 31st
1. Arrival to San José, Costa Rica (SJO)
2. Transportation to Grecia
3. Welcome Dinner (included) and Play Therapy in CR Introduction. (1.5 CE)

Sunday February 1st
Full day excursion to Jaco and Herradura Beaches. Transportation, guide and lunch included.

Monday February 2nd
1. Morning: 8:00 am. Placement test and interview in the School.
2. Spanish classes.
3. 10:00 am Coffee Break (included)
4. 10:25 am Spanish Classes
5. Afternoon: 12:00 pm. Getting to know Grecia with Alba. Lunch is on your own. Walking tour of Grecia, visit the most important places around town.
6. 1:30 Orientation to the program (Alba and ACCE staff) (5 CE) “What we will be doing and what we won’t be doing – we will be learning about play and play therapy.
7. 2:00 pm Lecture with Professor Williamson (1 CE) Play therapy: an introduction to the topic of play therapy, including a brief history and overview of the theoretical roots to play therapy”
8. 3:00 pm Coffee break (included)
9. 3:30 – 5:30 pm Play Therapy Lecture (2 CE)
10. Night: Spanish Homework (if applicable) and free time. Dinner on your own.

Tuesday February 3rd
1. Morning: 8:00 am. to 12:00 pm. Spanish classes including one hour of conversation and vocabulary related to the topic of play therapy and therapy with children (1 CE).
2. 10:00 am Coffee Break (included)
3. 10:25 am Spanish Classes
4. Afternoon: 12:00 pm. Latin cuisine cooking classes (lunch included)
5. 1:30 pm. Lecture with a professional person regarding play therapy with follow up discussion with Professor Williamson (1.5 CE) Topic: “Similarities and differences regarding play therapy”
6. 3:00 pm Coffee break (included)
7. 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm 3:00 pm Play Therapy Lecture with a local Play Therapist (2 CE).
8. Night: Spanish Homework (if applicable) and free time. Dinner on your own.

Wednesday February 4th
1. Morning: 8:00 am. to 12:00 pm. Spanish classes, including one hour of conversation and vocabulary related to the topic of play therapy and therapy with children (1 CE).

3. 10:25 Role-Play practice in Spanish
4. Afternoon: 1:30 pm. Lecture with professor Williamson (1.5 CE) Topic: “Cultural and developmental practice.
5. 3:00 pm Coffee Break (included)
6. 3:30 pm Play Therapy Lecture (2 CE)
7. 5:30 pm. Dance class. Styles: salsa, merengue and cumbia!
8 Night: Spanish Homework (if applicable) and free time. Dinner on your own.

Thursday February 5th
1. Morning: 8:00 am. to 12:00 pm. Spanish classes including one hour of conversation and vocabulary related to the topic of play therapy and therapy with children (1 CE).
2. 10:00 am Coffee Break (included)
3. 10:25 am Field visit to elementary school, with follow up lecture and debrief: Professor Williamson and Spanish Professors (1.5 CE)
4. Afternoon: 1:30 pm Coffee Tour Excursion with transportation, guide, and lunch included.
5. 5:30 pm Dinner (paid for by participant) and debrief together. (1 CE)
6. Night: Spanish Homework (if applicable) and free time.

Fryday February 6th
1. Morning: 8:00 am. to 12:00 pm. Spanish classes, including one hour of conversation and vocabulary related to the topic of play therapy and therapy with children (1 CE).
2. 10:00 am Coffee Break (included)
3. 10:25 Visit a play therapist’s office with Spanish Professors. (1.5 CE)
4. Afternoon: 12:00 pm. Farewell lunch (included) with Professors.
5. 1:00 pm wellness and self-care for therapists.
6. Closing lecture with Professor Williamson (2 CE)
7 3:00 pm Coffee break (paid for by participant) and souvenir shopping in Sarchi via city bus with guide.
8. Night: Dinner (not included) and free time.

Saturday February 7th
Full day excursion to La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano area) and hot springs with guide and transportation included. Lunch (paid for by participant).

Sunday February 8th
Departures – transportation to airport included.
